Wedding Bouquets for Life

One of the most beautiful of the bride's adornments at a wedding is the bouquet. Normally constructed of fresh flowers, the wedding bouquet would last for a week or two, and then have to be dried or tossed. Today that is not the case; today's modern bride has options that are more permanent.

There are various bridal books, magazines and shops to help you choose the perfect style and color. The arrangement you select should be a reflection of your personality and/or the color scheme of your wedding.

A growing popularity in wedding flowers is silk flowers. Silk flowers are non-allergenic, will never wilt and can be kept as a remembrance of your special day for years to come. Another advantage over silk flowers is their cost and durability.

Another option for the wedding bouquets is stunning handmade porcelain flowers. Porcelain and silk flowers are available in traditional styles. With a seemingly unlimited array of colors, these amazing creations last a lifetime. Many come with a display stand included in the purchase price, so your wedding bouquet now has become an exquisite family heirloom.

As you plan your special day, consider the option of a porcelain handmade bouquet. The cost is a bit higher, yet the memories of your ceremony will be with you forever. In addition, your wedding bouquet will be with you as well, a permanent reminder of your love for each other.

Florist Faq: Answers To Basic Florist Questions

* What is an FTD florist?

In the floral business, FTD means Fresh Trusted Delivered. Many florists associated with FTD deliver fresh flower arrangements from the FTD catalog worldwide.

* Can I have flowers sent anywhere in the world?

Yes, you can. There are many flower shops that have a delivery service anywhere in the world. All you have to do is contact a shop or order online to make your loved ones overseas realize that you care.

* What kinds of gifts can I send from a florist?

Florists offer several different kinds of gifts. Most of these are excellent as gifts for any occasion. Some of them are:

- Flowers

- Balloons

- Gift Baskets

- Baby Gifts

- Wedding Gifts

- Collectibles

- Party Supplies

* Do florists have delivery limitations?

Yes, they do. These limitations are listed in their delivery information or policy. Examples of these limitations are:

- If there are orders made after the free delivery period, especially after business hours, the customer will have to pay the standard delivery charges of the florist.

- If the customer requests a rush order or a special delivery, there will be an additional charge.

- There is no cancellation of an order after delivery. However, if cancellation occurs before the delivery date, a fee of 10 percent of cost of the order will still be charged to the customer.

- Delivery on Sundays and holidays depends on the availability of the delivery area. Orders to be delivered to businesses would usually not be feasible on those days.

* What kinds of flowers should you give for an anniversary, Valentines Day, or Mothers Day?

There are lots of flowers for an anniversary that are popular today. Examples of these are roses, daisies, iris, sweet peas, violets and nasturtiums.

The flowers that are great gifts for Mother's Day include pastel roses, tulips, Gerbera daisies, lavender roses, lilies, and "the charm of your magic."

The top flowers given during Valentine's Day are: roses, carnations, tulips, lilies and orchids.

* What is the proper way to pin a corsage?

A corsage is the flower worn by women to a prom or special event. The proper place to pin on a corsage is just above the collar bone, usually on the left side, by gently curving it around the pin. The corsage should not be pinned in the area near the breast. Girls also sometimes choose to wear corsages on their wrists to avoid crushing them while dancing.

A man's corsage worn at a wedding or other formal occasion is often called a boutonniere, which means "buttonhole." It should be placed in the buttonhole on the lapel of a suit jacket or pinned near the place where such a buttonhole would be, usually on the left side.

Online Florist Versus Florist Shop

A florist is a person designing flower arrangements and selling them. The florist takes care of flower arrangements, which is an art of making bouquets, composition of ornamental grass, herbs, foliages and flowers resulting in a beautiful design.

Nowadays there are numerous online florists in the internet. There are disadvantages and advantages in going directly to a local florist than to the online florist.

Spending a few dollars less getting a flower arrangement comparable to the internet florist is possible. A local florist will give a more personalized service. Whereas an Internet florist having an international or national network will provide a service that is more reliable, and placing the order is faster and easier.

A local florist will have a real inventory, which will be shown physically to the customer along with their real prices. Since each affiliated florist is owned and operated independently, the Internet sites can only make a guess of available designs and their exact cost.

The Internet online florists charge a fee to process each order and subsequently pass the order to a real florist to execute it.

The actual florist supplying and delivering the flowers gets only a percentage of what is actually paid by the customer and the real value of the order gets decreased in each stage of the processing. While a customer pays USD 60 for the order, the value of the flowers delivered will be worth somewhere around USD 45 only.

Of late, call centers are handling the order placed through an online florist network. They lack real knowledge about flowers and their arrangements. Their information is confined to few pictures and scant details. A call direct to the real florist eliminates the usual occurrences of misunderstandings and mistakes. Every detail of the requirement can be discussed to the utmost satisfaction. For more info visit http://www.florista.info

Florists are persons working with flowers, at a retail level generally. The flower-only shops include online stores, telephone orders, sales, and a florist shop. Garden supply stores and supermarkets are also functioning as a retail florist. Among their large product range, flowers are also included now.

Since 1998, there is a decline of more than twenty percent in independently owned traditional flower shops or florists in North America due to the advent of the World Wide Web and Internet marketing. Floral wire services and online flower delivery ordering are replacing the mortar and brick retail arrangements of a florist.

A large collection of flowers is stocked in a florist shop. They usually spill out in to street or a display will be made using large plate glass windows. To keep the flowers fresh, they will be kept in water using plastic bulbs, containers and sleeves.

Knowledge in complicated arrangements of flowers along with know-how on forming bouquets and wreaths is very important for a florist. Besides stocking the different flowers available in the season locally, florists also import blossoms from various cities and towns of the globe. The most common varieties stocked by florist include lilies, irises, tulips and roses.

The Elegant Calla Lily Wedding Bouquet

Few fresh cut flowers offer the elegance and versatility of the calla lily. If you are designing your own wedding bouquet, centerpieces or arrangements, the calla lily will provide all of the style, color and beauty you require.

The white calla lily is recognized immediately as the traditional wedding flower. For a simple bridal bouquet, tie ten to twelve calla lily stems with floral tape approximately six inches below the flower. Next, using ribbon that matches your wedding theme's color, cover the tape and tie a simple bow. Your walk down the aisle will exude class and understated sophistication with this beautiful, and simple to make, calla lily wedding bouquet.

If you prefer more color variety in your wedding flower arrangement, consider using the mini calla. A slightly shorter cousin to the standard calla lily, the mini calla offers tremendous color selection and versatility, often available in shades of white, pink, yellow and red, depending on the season.

Open the palm of your hand and place five standard length, white calla lilies flat in your hand. Arrange the flowers so that the middle flower is the tallest and the others slightly lower, roughly forming an arrow shape. Next, add eight mini calla lilies of pink, yellow or red and continue to fill out the arrowhead shape. Gently close the palm of your hand to solidify the wedding bouquet's shape and tie with floral tape. Finish once again with the ribbon of your choice.

Calla lilies work wonderfully with other fresh cut flowers as well. Roses are a great compliment to a calla lily wedding bouquet or arrangement.

Alternate roses and calla lilies while designing your next wedding bouquet, posie or nosegay. The differences between the flowers' shapes and contours will fill out your bridal bouquet, and add depth, dimension, shape and color.

Once again, don't be afraid to experiment with color. Pink roses and white calla lilies create the soft, pastel atmosphere of fairytales. Green roses and white calla lilies will announce your modern and stylish approach to life, while dark red roses and white calla lilies create a dramatic presentation that will catch the eye of every guest.

Be sure to incorporate calla lilies into your table centerpieces as well. Mini callas are great for table arrangements that don't force your guests to stretch their necks over towering designs that block everyone's view. Plus, with the wide color selection available, you are sure to find the perfect combination for your event's style and theme.

Calla lilies have much to offer and deserve their place in your next wedding bouquet or fresh cut flower arrangement. With style, elegance and a variety of colors and sizes, you can't go wrong.

How To Make A Candy Topiary Bouquet

Candy bouquets make great centerpieces or gifts for just about any occasion. Here are some instructions for creating your own candy topiary bouquet in either a flower pot or mug.

1. Either buy/find a flowerpot or mug to match your theme. For instance, for Mother's Day, you might want to use a flowerpot or mug with a Spring floral theme.

2. If you are using a mug, you will want to buy a piece of floral foam (to cut to size and put inside the mug base), a dowel rod (to stick in the base and form the topiary) and a Styrofoam ball (to stick at the end of the dowel rod and form the upper end of the topiary). If you are using a flower pot, you can buy the supplies described for the mug or you can buy one of the pre-made topiary forms that set directly in the flowerpot. I've seen these forms with a Styrofoam pot-shaped base and Styrofoam ball top at Michael's and Joanne Fabrics. If you go with the pre-made form, you can hot glue it directly into the flower pot.

3. Once you have your form in either your mug or pot, you should hot glue Spanish moss or other decorative items such as shells, dried flowers, etc to the to the top of the base foam to basically hide the foam that makes up the base.

4. Buy some floral pins and hard candies. I recommend getting hard candies that color-coordinate with your theme such as fruit bon-bons in pastel wrappers for Mother's Day or Easter and red/white hard peppermint candies for Christmas. Take a metal floral pin and stick it through the end of the candy wrapper (just outside the twisted end) and then stick the floral pin with the attached candy on to the round Styrofoam topiary ball. Keep repeating this process until the entire ball is covered with hard candies and you can't see any Styrofoam peeking through.

5. To dress up the candy bouquet, you can floral pin ribbons or small silk flowers between some of the hard candies. Also, tie pieces of ribbon around the dowel right below the Styrofoam ball. It looks great if you leave the ribbon tails long enough to hang down and disguise the wood dowel. I recommend either using curling ribbon or 1/2" wide organza ribbon for this task.

You've successfully completed your candy topiary bouquet!

How To Make A Bridal Bouquet?

It’s good for you, as a bride to be, to know some things that will help you choosing the right flowers, form or aspect of your bridal bouquet. Thus you can tell the florist what your expectations are respecting the bouquet or you will actually make your bridal bouquet by yourself. making-bouquet.jpg

There are some advices for you to make a bridal bouquet:

* The bridal bouquet has to be easy to hold

* The bouquet’s height does not have more than 10-15 centimeters, so it will not cover the bride.

* The bouquet has to follow the lines of the bride’s body and not to exceed it.

* Not to be seen the wire with whom you tied the flowers into the bouquet and take care that the wire’s ends will not hurt the bride’s hands (that’s for the wires are flexed and filled it through the stems).

* The stems not to have awn.

* The bouquet has not to blot the bride dress (for example, the lily’s pollen).

* The bridal bouquet has to hold out and to be fresh for the entire wedding day.

* The green material has not to smell badly and that for you will not use the Tagetes (a species of Chrysanthemum ).

There are many types of bridal bouquet appropriate to each need or fitting special bride: the round, flowing, irregular bouquets.

The round bouquet is made from one single type of flower or many types, but it has to be harmonious by colors and forms. respecting the different forms of flowers, the biggest has to be the central one. This bridal bouquet fits a short youthful wedding dress and it’s not appropriate to a stocky bride, because this form emphasizes the imperfections of the bride. The small bouquet can be made by flowers like freesia, hyacinth, daisy, mini rose.

The folowing bouquet seams like a tear. Above you’ll put the noble, ponderous and the biggest or full-blown flowers and flowing effect comes from the flowers with a long stem (like the roses) and those with a tenuous and flexible stem. Those flowers are tied with wires and could be the punks, the fragile flowers like the orchids. This bridal bouquet is appropriate to each bride whatever the age is and we recommend it to the low or the pregnant brides.

The irregular bridal bouquet is made by the prevailing character flowers. It’s a modern type which puts to the proof your imagination, your common sense. This is a combination of all types presented before. It’s important the asymmetry and you can use every ornamental elements or materials.

For a bridal bouquet, you can use every flower you want, even the sunflower or immortal and field flowers, just to be in the same air and atmosphere of the wedding.

The bridal bouquet has to be very resistant, because the bride is carrying it all over and also there is the practice of throwing the bouquet. Therefore there are some special techniques of clenching the flowers. They could be knotted, wired or stick.

The most popular technique of making a bridal bouquet is that in which the florist uses a purchased bouquet holder. Bouquet holders are usually made of white plastic, are cone-shaped and have an attached handle. They come with floral foam already inserted into the cone.

There are a few steps for you to make your own bridal bouquet:

1. Choose the flowers that you will use (we recommend that the flowers from the bridal bouquet were bride’s favorites and will complement both the wedding colors and any other floral arrangements planned).

2. Keep the flowers into water and, while are you using them, maintain the flower up, thus the hydration process will deploy.

3. Place the bouquet holder upside down on the surface of a large bowl of water. Hold on to the handle and let the holder gradually sink to the bottom of the bowl. This will saturate the foam. Remove the bouquet holder from the water and dry the exterior.

4. Begin the placement of the flowers from the top of the holder. The flower’s stem could be as short as you need. Therefore you have to determine how much of the stem you’d like to have above the foam, and then cut the stem at a very sharp angle 1 1/2 to 2 inches below that point. If you want to rearrange an inserted flower, remove the flower, cut the stem once more and reinsert it in a different spot in the foam.

5. Wire every stem before sticking in the foam of the holder. The wire will pass through the foam and it has to be bended and knotted by the holder, for the best resistance. 6. To create a cascade effect, you have to insert various lengths of greenery such as ivy or fern at the bottom of the bouquet holder or let the stems of the flowers to be long and wire them by the plastic part of the holder. For a modern bouquet you can use an wool or silk material, even pieces of gunny.

7. You need to cover the holder with aspidistra’s leafs or cut stems or you can cover it with a purchased silk or tul material. A special bridal bouquet, a modern one, could be decorated by a wool material, especially if the flowers were field‘s ones or the wedding took place into a rustic space or outside.

Use a 2-inch-wide silk or satin ribbon in a color that complements the wedding colors. If the bride prefer, use some artifices: use a combination of different or complementary ribbon’s colors. Add a pearl spray or two as well. You can also use one or two flowing wired pearls or one warm colored butterfly.

Buy Flower Bouquet

Flowers are some of the best gifts that you can give a friend or loved one for a birthday, anniversary, and get well wish or just because you want them to know that you are thinking of them. Some people may not know what to look for when they want to buy a flower bouquet. Here are some things to keep in mind whenever you decide to surprise someone with your thoughtfulness.

Make sure that you buy a flower bouquet that matches the occasion. For example, you do not want to send a bouquet that comes with balloons that say “It’s a boy!” for mothers day. You just mixed up a baby bouquet with a national holiday. Sometimes people will say that it doesn’t matter; it’s the thought that counts. This may be true, but wouldn’t make more sense to not only think about the person but also take time to pick a great gift for them?

You should also keep price in mind whenever you decide you want to buy flower bouquets online or in person. Flower bouquets can range in price from $30-$100+ and can be a simple bouquet or an extravagant spectacle. It all really depends on how much you feel you want to spend on the person. Once again, to them price wont matter, just the thought.

Something else that is less considered by people when buying a flower bouquet is making sure that what you buy for someone won’t be harmful. For example, if you are sending flowers to someone who is in the hospital and they have certain allergies, then make sure that the flowers you send are not going to aggravate them. Also, if you send flowers to a child for any reason, make sure that the bouquet does not have small pieces that they could possibly choke on.

The best way of buying a flower bouquet is online, where you can do it during work or at midnight before you go to bed. This is also good if the person you are sending flowers to do not live in the same city or state as you. Most online flower boutiques also have next day delivery for a quick response. As you can plainly see, buying a flower boutique can be a fun and easy thing that anyone can do. All it takes is a few clicks of the mouse and you can tell someone that they are special to you.

Internet Florists Canada – How to Choose the Right Florist When You Buy Your Flowers Online

Internet florists Canada - the online Internet flower shop is steadily replacing the brick and mortar counterpart in Canada. When it comes to buying flowers online at work or from the comfort of your home over the Internet, there is no shortage of websites or florists offering products and delivery services to Canadians or to those wanting to send flowers to Canada.

While each of these florists proudly displays their wares and services, it's very important for you, the buyer, to find an online Internet florist that serves your needs and gifting requirements. This article will offer a few tips to guide you towards choosing between the right florists when you order your flowers on the Internet.

It's in Canada. It's pretty. But does it work for you? When shopping online for gifts on the Internet, roses, or anything else you're considering sending off as a special message to someone else in Canada, it's worth your while to evaluate the florists' systems you'll be using to make a purchase. Sure, on the Internet a website is a website, but it's what goes on behind the scenes that will make your buying experience a joy or a painful memory!

Florists in Canada with good Internet websites share four things in common - a smooth system of navigation to view products, a streamlined checkout system, buying convenience in the form of credit card and debit card usage, and lastly, free value added services such as emailed occasion reminders or informational areas to help you with your buying decision.

Always keep in mind that good florists on the Internet in Canada will operate no differently than if you walked into the door of the brick and mortar shop it belongs to - think of it as a virtual representation of real life.

Using a good online florist as Canada's example... You and a friend want to send flowers to Toronto, and you've decided upon online flower delivery for its convenience and ease of use. You've inputted your desires into your favourite Internet search engine and arrived at Floral Site X, while your friend had decided to use what we'll call Floral Site Y. Both of you will be sending bouquets, perhaps as birthday wishes or a message of congratulations.

You easily skim Floral Site X's pages of flowers and gifts categorized by budget, occasion or message preference. You add your flower selection to your shopping cart and proceed to the check out, where you decide to take advantage of the add-on feature and build upon your gift with balloons and a postcard. Perfect!

Except you forget your credit card in your other pair of pants and only have your banking card with you - but it's not a problem, since Floral Site X is one of the only florists in Canada to support Interac Online which makes buying with your debit card a breeze. A few delivery details inputted and you're done!

As for your friend who chose Floral Site Y, who wasn't able to change his gift once selected, who became confused through the checkout process and then found out his debit card was of no use - well, let's just say you'll be returning to Floral Site X for a sympathy arrangement. With Brant Florist, buying flowers online has never been easier!

It's not difficult to see how important choosing the right website for Internet flower delivery can be when you only have a fifteen minute time window, or your lunch break is nearly over. When buying online on the Internet, convenience counts, so take that into consideration when you choose whom to buy your flowers from. Truthfully, giving a gift should feel just as good as receiving it - research once, purchase easily many times after!

Some final thoughts on buying your flowers online on the Internet in Canada... When you type "Internet florists Canada" into Google, you're going to get a lot of results from a lot of florists in Canada - always spend the time to check out all the websites' features and see how deep the florists' product lines are.

A good online florist has a rich and varied catalogue of flowers and gifts for all instances and occasions - make sure the florist you choose has the same. You shouldn't have to relegate your gift to a second-best choice just because the message you really wanted to send wasn't in stock. Good online florists in Canada will always be prepared - either to serve you or to lead you to those who can!

This bit of careful scrutiny will land you at the website capable of fulfilling all your floral and gifting needs. Once you buy your flowers on the Internet in a stress-free, streamlined environment, you'll wonder if you'll ever enter another real-life flower shop again! And as a bonus, florists in Canada often offer incentives when you buy online - they can pass the savings onto you!

Finally, make sure the site you choose has the FTD logo on their website, but more importantly, make sure they're a real florist! Affiliate Internet "florists" and floral sites in Canada lack the decades of experience and expert craftsmanship that real florists possess. Your receiver in Canada should settle for nothing less, and neither should you!

Wedding Flowers - 3 Steps to Hiring Your Florist

Even if you plan to create and arrange your own wedding flowers, consulting with a florist first is still a good idea. A florist's first-hand knowledge and years of experience can prove extremely useful, ensuring that you don't overlook small but important details. Hiring a florist ensures your wedding flowers and floral scheme match your vision. Not sure how to even begin hiring a florist? Follow these steps, and you will be sure to find the florist that suits you.

Do Your Research

It is never too soon to begin exploring your options. If you don't already have a favorite florist, research and find local florists. Your wedding facility coordinator or recently married friends are a great place to start. Browse Elegala.com's directory of local florists for a complete list of preferred florists in your area. Once you have a list of local florists, make appointments to review their work and discuss your floral vision.

Meet with Potential Florists

Plan to review portfolios and discuss your overall vision during your first appointments with potential florists. Your florist's previous work should match that vision. Remember that these portfolios showcase their best work, so if you don't like what you see, continue shopping. When they follow-up with proposals for your wedding based on your discussion, you should be able to make a decision on which best suits both your vision and wedding budget.

Determine the Details - Pick your Wedding Flowers

Now that you have selected your florist, schedule planning meetings at the ceremony and reception locations to determine the wedding flowers you'll use and their placement (or provide photos so that the florist will have an idea of what the locations look like) Consider your wedding facility as a blank canvas upon which your florist will create his/her work of art. The look and feel of the setting will lead your discussions, determining both the wedding flowers you choose and where they will be placed.
